Saturday 27th June – NYSD Division 2
Barnard Castle 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 1st XI – weather was hot and sunny. Barnard Castle won the toss and asked Aycliffe to bat first.
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 152 all out after 35 overs
Tom Young 65, John Cavanagh 34, Michael Howe 16 and Dan Bowmer 16.
Barnard Castle 2nd XI 115 all out after 35.3 overs
Jack Slatcher 4 for 21, Colin Myers 3 for 47 and Michael Howe 2 for 48
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI had a dramatic 2 run win away at 2nd in the table Barnard Castle thanks to an excellent man of the match performance from Jack Slatcher (sponsored by Mr and Mrs Greaves). Slatcher, who was making his league debut for the first team finished with the creditable figures of 4 for 21 from his 6.2 over spell.
The win leaves Aycliffe in 4th place in the 2nd division table with 198 points from 13 games at the half way stage of the season.

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Thornaby 2nd XI – weather was hot and sunny. Thornaby won the toss and asked Aycliffe to bat first.
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – 168 for 8 after 50 overs
Adam Gittins 47, Tony Travis 34 and James Brown 27 not out
Thornaby 2nd XI – 84 all out after 36 overs
Patrick Howe 4 for 19, Danny Weldon 2 for 19 and Tom Wickins 2 for 20
Newton Aycliffe had an excellent 84 run win at home to their counterparts from Thornaby with 17 year old leg spin bowler Patrick Howe (sponsored Aycliffe NUFC Supporters Bus) again picking up the man of the match award after taking 4 for 19. At the half way stage of the season the win gives Aycliffe 132 points from 13 games and leaves them comfortably in mid table of the NYSD 3rd division.
