Saturday 4th July – NYSD Division 2
Whitby 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 1st XI – weather was hot and sunny. Whitby won the toss and asked Aycliffe to bat first.
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 207 for 9 after 50 overs.
John Cavanagh 42, Luke Telford 40 and Colin Myers 27.
Whitby 2nd XI 209 for 5 after 45 overs
Michael Howe 3 for 38 and John Cavanagh 2 for 61
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI were comfortably defeated away at Whitby by 5 wickets. Luke Telford was nominated for the man of the match award after scoring an excellent 40 and holding the end of the innings together. The seven bonus points gained gives Aycliffe 205 points from 14 games, but they drop to 6th place in the table.

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Norton 2nd XI – weather was hot and sunny. Aycliffe won the toss and asked Norton to bat first.
Norton 2nd XI – 214 for 6 declared after 44.2 overs
James Brown 2 for 11 and Danny Weldon 2 for 65
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – 155 all out after 42 overs
Ben Nicholson 44, Danny Weldon 26 and Adam Gittins 22.
Newton Aycliffe 2nd team were beaten by 59 runs at home to 2nd in the table Norton. Ben Nicholson (sponsored by Unison) was man of the match for his season’s best score of 44, including 7 boundaries. Aycliffe now have 138 points from 14 games and remain in mid place in the NYSD 3rd division table.
