Saturday 14th May – NYSD Division 2
Darlington 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 1st XI – weather was dry and sunny. Aycliffe lost the toss and were asked to bat first.

Darlington 2nd XI 195 for 5 after 47.5 overs

Aycliffe’s first team were defeated away at Darlington 2nd XI by five wickets in a high scoring game. Sam Telford (Sponsored by Mr & Mrs Telford) was named the man of the match for his first half century of the season and eventually losing his wicket for brilliant innings of 62.
Saturday 14th May – NYSD Division 3
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Blackhall 2nd XI – weather was warm and sunny. Aycliffe won the toss and decided to bat first.
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 183 all out after 48.1 overs
Dan Bowmer 38, James Brown 32 and Tony Travis 25
Blackhall 2nd XI 182 all out after 32.1 overs
Stephen Sweeney 5 for 22 and Ryan Patrick 2 for 29
Aycliffe second team had an amazing 1 run victory at home to Blackhall 2nd XI to give them their first win of the season. 16 year old opening batsman Dan Bowmer was man of the match for his excellent innings of 38. However much credit must also go to part time bowler Stephen Sweeney who finished his spell of bowling with career best figures of 5 for 22 as Aycliffe fought back for a very memorable win.
