Saturday 25th June – NYSD Division 2
Yarm 1st XI v Newton Aycliffe 1st XI – weather was sunshine and showers. Yarm won the toss and asked Aycliffe to bat first.

Newton Aycliffe were thwarted by the rain away at Yarm as the home side were struggling at 124 for 5 after 33 overs, still 114 runs short of their target, when the umpires called a halt to proceedings because of rain. In form Michael Howe (sponsored by Keziah Benson Photography) was named man of the match for his excellent innings of 65. Aycliffe picked up 15 points, but unfortunately other results leave them stuck in the 2nd division relegation zone.
Saturday 25th June – NYSD Division 3
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI c Thornaby 2nd XI – weather was sunshine and showers. Thornaby won the toss and chose to field first.
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 145 all out after 47 overs
Sean Morgan 44, James Layfield-Carroll 21 and Dan Craggs 19
Thornaby 2nd XI 142 for 9 after 29 overs
George Slatcher 3 for 26, James layfield-Carroll 3 for 39 and 13 year old Lucas Pilling 2 for 46
Aycliffe almost won a thrilling game at home to Thornaby, but were unable to take the final wicket and had to settle for a draw as the visitors held on to finish their innings on 142 for 9. Sixteen-year-old George Slatcher was nominated man of the match for his excellent bowling finishing with 3 for 26 from six overs.
The 11 points gained pushed Aycliffe’s total to 65 from 8 games played.
