Saturday 1st July – NYSD Division 2
Hartlepool 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 1st XI – weather was warm and sunny. Hartlepool won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 67 all out after 31.1 overs
Chris Palmer 14, Jack Slatcher 10 and Joe Haines 10.
Hartlepool 2nd X 71 for 1 after 9.4 overs

Aycliffe’s first team had a disastrous day away at Hartlepool when they were thrashed by 9 wickets in a very poor performance. Chris Palmer (sponsored by Vanila Design and Print) picked up the man of the match nomination for top scoring with 14 runs in the Aycliffe innings.
This defeat puts Aycliffe firmly in the fight against relegation and at the half way stage of the season, the first team sit in 9th place with 96 points from 11 games played.

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Yarm 2nd XI – weather was warm and sunny. Yarm won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 118 all out after 26.5 overs
Dave Richardson 29, Steve Sweeney 25 and Ryan Patrick 18
Yarm 2nd XI 119 for 5 after 34.2 overs
James Layfield-Carroll 2 for 13, Dylan tribley 1 for 20 and Ryan Patrick 1 for 30
The second XI put in a decent performance but were still beaten at home to Yarm by 5 wickets. 17 year old Ryan Patrick (sponsored by Durham Business Club) was given the man of the match award for his all round performance in the game.
At the half way point in the season, the 2nd team remain in 7th place in the table with 59 points from 12 games played.
