Crafter’s Companion is celebrating the first anniversary of its flagship store in Newton Aycliffe with a weekend-long event.
Following a successful year of trading, with over 40,000 people visiting the store and buying more than 150,000 products, the outlet is hosting a four-day birthday party this Bank Holiday weekend with a host of craft activities, workshops with some of the company’s craft stars, including Sara Davies, Leann Chivers and Sheena Douglass, and some special giveaways.
The event will start with a ‘craftathon’, which will see the store staff and customers take part in a sponsored craft day for the Crafter’s Companion Community Fund which supports a number of different charities in the region.
Sara Davies (pictured above), founder and creative director at Crafter’s Companion, said: “The last year has been a total whirlwind for our team.
“The Newton Aycliffe store started out as a big idea and we’re so pleased with its performance in the first year. We can’t thank our customers enough for their continued support and commitment to visit our flagship store from all corners of the UK.
“The anniversary weekend has been designed to be a huge thank you to customers, our local community in Newton Aycliffe and everyone that has contributed to the success of the store.
“From in-store fundraising and crafty make and take sessions to some amazing giveaways, the long weekend looks absolutely jam-packed. We hope people will come along and help us celebrate the store’s first anniversary.”
The celebrations, which will take place from Friday (May 26) until Monday (May 29), will give visitors the chance to enjoy all-day demonstrations, compete in a design a birthday card competition and find presents that will be hidden around the store for customers. Two customers will also be invited to take part in a ready, steady, craft session each day.
Crafter’s Companion manufactures, distributes and retails crafting tools and products online via its website, on TV shopping channels across the world, through thousands of independent retailers and in its own outlets in Newton Aycliffe and Chesterfield.
The Newton Aycliffe store opened in May 2016 and includes themed shopping areas, a coffee shop, a central hub for workshops and two dedicated demonstration areas. It also runs a regular calendar of events.
There will also be a number of birthday promotions running across the weekend, including scratch card giveaways for anyone who spends over £30, with one lucky winner getting a free Gemini machine worth £170. Tickets to the event are £5 and include a goody bag worth £30 and lunch.
