Newton Aycliffe-based global phenomenon Crafter’s Companion has been recognised with another major award.
The crafting giant has been given a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade, an accolade the company will hold for five years.
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are highly prestigious, with only a small selection of businesses are fortunate enough to get them.
The firm’s founder, and current Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies, said: “Crafter’s Companion has grown on a phenomenal scale throughout the past few years and we have made exceptional developments when it comes to international trade, so much so that our international sales have now overtaken that of our UK business.
“When trying to break international markets, it’s vital to know the market inside and out and knowing your customers in these geographical areas is key.
“We have been successful in growing our international business because we have established a strong brand identity and with that, a loyal customer base and sense of community amongst our shoppers.
“This year has been very strange and uncertain for so many businesses. I am so thankful that I work with an amazing group of people who carry the best interests of the company at heart and do everything that they possibly can to see it succeed.
“Winning a Queen’s Enterprise Award is a fantastic honour, especially when you consider the calibre of companies who have received one in the past, so the fact that we have won our own award is very welcome news.”
