Newton Aycliffe-based Crafter’s Companion has invested more than £120,000 in a new digital platform and recruited 13 employees to support its ongoing growth.
Following a sales growth of 38%, with an export sales growth of 59% in 2018, Crafter’s Companion has made significant investments in its ecommerce, social media and creative production operations.
The company has appointed a new global ecommerce team with four full-time staff and an apprentice, in addition to four employees to oversee its global social media operation.
Crafter’s Companion has also appointed three new employees to run its new TV-studio service and a full-time photographer to support the company’s content and marketing requirements.
The new Magento 2.3 web platform, which includes rebuilt UK, US and brand-new EU consumer websites, will aid the company’s international growth strategy.
The company’s investments have enabled Crafter’s Companion to increase its educational content online, including more step-by-step demonstration videos and live streaming features from founder Sara Davies MBE and the Crafter’s Companion design team, in addition to new product launches and project ideas being integrated through the web pages.
Sara said: “We have seen phenomenal success throughout the past year and we wanted to invest in a new platform which reflects the direction Crafter’s Companion wants to take as a global craft supplier.
“Our head office team has been working tirelessly to ensure that the move to the new website has been as seamless as possible and it has been fantastic to have some new recruits on board to help us with the launch and to support our ongoing growth.
“We have completely transformed our website into an even better platform for both new customers and loyal crafters to enjoy and we are all extremely proud of the result.”
