The Chairman of Durham County Council, Cllr Linda Marshall, has returned to school in Newton Aycliffe.
Accompanied by her husband and consort, Cllr David Marshall, the chairman visited Woodham Community Technical College in Newton Aycliffe.
The chairman wanted to meet the students who designed and manufactured, at the school, the medals and lanyards for the recent County Durham International Games.
With support from Durham County Council and nearby Aycliffe Fabrications, the pupils drew up the design and even oversaw the manufacturing and financial processes, the students’ medals were distributed to the winning athletes at Durham County Council’s International Youth Games.
“The medals were fantastic and we were very keen to find out how they came about their ideas along with the process of making them,” said Cllr Marshall.
