Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) will be opening the doors of its Pioneering Care Centre (PCC) in Newton Aycliffe to support the local community offering a free Welcome Space for all.
The first session started on Wednesday, January 8, and will continue to run every Wednesday from 4pm to 6:30pm, until Wednesday, March 26.
The weekly drop-in sessions will provide a welcoming environment for people to connect, recharge, and tuck into a free warm meal.
Each week will offer different activities, from creative crafts and educational workshops to family-friendly games – there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy.
Project lead Georgina Beckensall said: “The winter months, particularly after Christmas can be tough for many, and we wanted to create a space where everyone feels welcome and supported.
“The Welcome Space is not just about warmth and food; it’s about building connections, fostering a sense of community, and ensuring people have access to the help they need during challenging times.
“The PCC is a community resource for people to use as a hub of support and wellbeing, and we look forward to welcoming many individuals and families to the PCC over the coming months.”
This initiative has been made possible thanks to funding from Point North. The aim of the funding is to help people develop skills and find jobs, reduce the impact of cost of living, increase support in communities that have limited resources and improve community spirit and pride in the local area.
