As part of a recent relaunch campaign Tesco Newton Aycliffe has donated £1,000 to the local youth and community centre.
Newton Aycliffe Youth and Community Centre is available to hire for a variety of activities such as meetings and seminars, training and educational classes, arts and crafts, dancing and exercise classes.
It also regularly hosts evening youth sessions, breastfeeding café, Age UK Tai Chi and Age UK Eat Together Monday.
Having recently started on interior upgrades and improvements the centre has identified use for a stage that can be stored away when not in use and Tesco has made the £1,000 towards this.
Youth centre manager Beki Metcalf said: “We are currently undergoing some upgrades where my team and I have been painting rooms and constructing furniture but we have a long way to go.
“As part of where we would like the centre to go in the future we have identified the need for a stage that will encourage a variety of users into the centre that are orientated towards youth activities.
“We would like to thank Tesco for their kind donation which will help us to purchase the stage sooner than we thought.”
Tesco Extra manager Helen Maynard added: “As part of our recent relaunch campaign to promote our new Arcadia range in store we have been able to make a donation to a worthwhile cause in our community.
“The youth centre provides a great service to many different people and groups and we are happy to have been able to help them to buy a stage.
“Along with providing great service in store for our customers, working with and supporting our local community is a key focus for us.”
