Newton Aycliffe FC boss Peter Dixon is raring to get back to winning ways and put the disappointment of last week’s result behind them.
Aycliffe suffered only their second defeat in six games as they went down 4-0 to title-chasers Marske United.
They face Sunderland RCA at Moore Lane Park on Saturday, with their opponents sitting second from bottom.
However, they have only played 21 games this season compared to some teams who have played close to 30 games.
He said: “They are a bit of an anomaly. Since the new manager has took over, they haven’t played many games.
“Nobody knows much about them to be honest.
“They have half a seasons worth of games to play in three months. This probably puts them in a false position.”
Sunderland RCA claimed an impressive 2-1 victory at Bishop Auckland in mid-week and has warned his side has to be at their best to pick up the three points.
“It’s imperative that we play somewhere near what we have been playing the past few weeks.
“This is a key match down the bottom end of the table.
Dixon is in high spirits and is looking to see his side continue their good run of form, which has seen them climb further away from the relegation zone.
“We’re dying to go out on the football pitch and set last week’s result straight.
“If we give a good performance then there is not much more we can ask.”
