As one of two North-East support centres for Digital Design Technology, Woodham Academy continues to invest in the latest CADCAM technology.
Students can now create prototype models using a Dimension 3D printer, replicating the processes used by engineering companies.
Woodham Academy provides CADCAM training for all secondary schools in the region.
This includes the use of vexrobotics – a component based system where students can design and build a robot.
Woodham Academy headteacher Christine Forsyth said: “Given the importance of manufacturing to the local economy, it is essential that we provide students with state-of-the-art engineering facilities.
“This also gives our students a real advantage in the practical aspects of GCSE Product Design and Engineering, as well as allowing the development of creativity.”
