Football legend Peter Beardsley was in Newton Aycliffe to deliver school awards.
The Geordie legend, who played for Newcastle United, Liverpool, Everton and England, was guest presenter and speaker at Greenfield Community College’s awards night.
The Aycliffe school was packed full of former students, parents, teachers, governors, councillors and members of the community, who were all gathered to celebrate the achievements of the class of 2012.
Following an amusing DVD showing each year group’s experiences throughout their time at Greenfield Community College, headteacher, David Priestley, spoke proudly of the pupil’s academic successes, enthusiasm, commitment, positive attitude and care for one another.
Beadsley, who is now football development manager at Newcastle United, then presented the awards to the pupils, before posing for photographs and giving an inspiring talk on his own values and achievements.
Awards were also given to members of the community who attended courses at the school.
