A Newton Aycliffe woman has been accused of punching and bottling a love rival in a nightclub attack.
As reported in The Northern Echo, Laura Relton, 22, of Sheraton Road in the town, punched fellow clubber Rachael Byrne in Inside Out nightclub, in Darlington, before hitting her in the face with a glass bottle, Darlington Magistrates’ heard.
Blair Martin, prosecuting, said the victim was left with two injuries to her face after the alleged attack on 4th August.
He said: “Ms Byrne was with a male who is a former partner of the defendant.
“The defendant was upset that the pair were with each other. She punched her nose then brought a glass bottle down on her face of the injured party”
Ms Relton, who is charged with inflicting serious bodily harm without intent, did not enter a plea and the case was adjourned until 3rd January.

November 7, 2012 at 3:50 pmI would get your legal department to check this story – you could well be in a lot of bother if the defendant’s solicitor picks up on this

November 7, 2012 at 4:20 pmHow come? It says ‘as reported in the Northern Echo’ – so it’s already in the public domain. I think the defendant’s solicitor will be more interested in actually defending their client rather than chasing news outlets.
