Saturday 23rd June – NYSD Division 2
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Barnard Castle 2nd XI – weather was warm and sunny. Barnard Castle won the toss and chose to bat first.

Aycliffe first team’s recent winning run came to an abrupt halt as they were well beaten at home to Barnard Castle by 62 runs. Jack Slatcher (sponsored by Tina and Dean Greaves) was given the man-of-the-match award after some excellent bowling which yielded the miserly figures of 3 for 15 from a marathon 13-over spell.
The first team remain in third place in the NYSD 2nd division table with 167 points from 10 games played.

Billingham 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – weather was warm and sunny. Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bat first.

Billingham Synthonia 2nd XI for 73 for 5 after 16 overs
Matty Greaves 4 for 12 and David Robinson 1 for 13
Aycliffe’s young second team put in a spirited performance away to high flying Billingham Synthonia but were still beaten by five wickets. Thirteen-year-old Matty Greaves (sponsored by Britannia Fire), in only his third senior game for Aycliffe, was given the man-of-the-match award after taking a superb 4 for 12 from his 5-over spell.
