Newton Aycliffe have been drawn away to Seaham Red Star in the quarter-final of the Frank Pattison Durham Challenge Cup.
The game is due to be played in the week preceding December 17, with the details to be confirmed.
The draw followed Aycliffe’s win over Northern Premier League side Consett at the SecuriCorp Stadium last week.
That game finished 0-0 after 90 minutes with Aycliffe’s Joe Ferguson missing a penalty after 66 minutes. Ferguson was to make amends in the penalty shoot out that followed with Liam Jarvie & skipper Aaron Brown also beating the keeper, Aycliffe winning 3-1.
The cup match was Aycliffe’s only action last week. Their scheduled league game at Crook Town on Saturday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Aycliffe return to the SecuriCorp Stadium this week with a game against Thornaby on Saturday.
Brian Atkinson will be hoping for a repetition of the reverse fixture in August when his team took a win thanks to a Liam Jarvie goal.
On Saturday, December 10, Aycliffe will again be at home, this time to Pickering Town.
