A Newton Aycliffe teenager has admitted to stealing from more than 60 cars so he can “wipe the slate clean”.
The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court last week.
He admitted burglary of a garage in Bishop Auckland last year and stealing from a car in Aycliffe in February.
But prosecutor Andrea Milsom said the teenager also asked for 60 other thefts from cars to be taken into account, as he wants to wipe the slate clean.
Magistrates adjourned his case to the youth court sitting in Aycliffe next Monday (February 24), and was granted bail with a 7pm-7am curfew.
