Newton Aycliffe’s clash with Billingham Synthonia sees two players coming face-to-face with their former clubs.
Royal Blues striker Danny Earl had three years at Synners, scoring a hat-trick against the Newtonians in the FA Cup last season, while Nathan Wilson returns to Moore Lane Park for the first time since his transfer last month.
But Aycliffe must face the Synners without suspended dup Scott Pocklington and Sean Tarling. Goalkeeper Pocklington serves his one-match ban after being sent-off against Billingham Town, while skipper Tarling misses a game after picking up five bookings.
Ste Richardson is likely to start in goal, while Allan Oliver has a plethora of options in the middle of midfield. Jamie Dawson impressed on his debut and will compete with Martin Young, Stuart Owen, and Martin Butterworth for a starting role, while Josh Knox and Tom Hinchley can also move into midfield after both impressing in defence in recent weeks.
Aycliffe remain rooted to the bottom of the table, but are just five points away from climbing out the relegation zone. With 99 points left to play for, there is a lot of time for the club to start picking up points and climbing up the table.
The visitors are flying high in fourth, but have played more games than every other team in the league.
The game will hopefully see a bumper crowd at Moore Lane Park, as the club are offering free entry to under-12s who are accompanied by a paying adult. The scheme aims to attract a new generation of fans to the town’s only semi-professional football Kick off is 3pm at Moore Lane Park, with admission £5 adults and £3 concessions.
