Year 9 students from Woodham Academy were given the opportunity to attend a Higher Education event at Northumbria University.
The aim of the visit was to give students an insight into the life of a student at Northumbria, and to understand the many benefits of higher education.
Upon arrival students were taken on a guided tour of the university by student representatives, giving them a chance to view the many resources and facilities available on the campus.
Part of the tour involved them answering a variety of quiz questions based on clues they had to find and spot throughout the tour.
After lunch students were asked to complete a Higher Education focus planner, allowing them to understand the many pathways and routes into higher education.
This was followed by a team work exercise where students worked in small teams to design a university club or society. Ideas included a Netflix club, Skydiving club, and Daredevil society.
The day was completed with a Q&A session with a panel of Northumbria undergraduate students, allowing students to ask questions about the many aspects of life at university.
