Although the summer holidays are well underway, a group of 42 Aycliffe students chose to go back to school… but not for their usual lessons.
The students who are all due to start in Year 7 at Woodham Academy, in September, spent the week at summer school.
Each day was action packed with students participating in robotics with VEX Robotics, fun science experiments like ‘the disappearing egg’, cookery lessons including making pizza and scones, trampolining, swimming and other sports, outdoor English lessons, street dance with Aycliffe Dance Academy, origami lessons and summer technology projects.
Each day brought a new subject, allowing students the opportunity to try a full range of projects.
Summer school was also an excellent opportunity to make new friends and for students to find their way around school before starting in September.
The week ended with certificates and prizes being awarded as well as fun on the bucking bronco and delicious fresh toasties served by The Blue Mouse.
