A Newton Aycliffe student excelled at the world-renowned dog show Crufts last weekend.
Greenfield year 11 student Ashley Sutton achieved exceptional results as he attended Crufts 2022 this year, handling two of his Siberian Huskies, to fantastic Breed Class results.
Ashley gained a first class placement with his youngest dog Ruben, who is only 18 months old, and this was their first Crufts together.
He achieved a ‘very highly commended’ award with his older eight-and-a-half-year old dog who is father to the younger, in a very competitive Veteran Dog class.
Ashley’s mum Jo said “We are extremely proud of their results, as they had a very short six months qualifying time post-Covid restrictions on showing and went out and proved what a fantastic partnership with a K9 buddy can do.
“We thank the school for their 100% support in Ashley’s endeavours and achievements with his out of school interests.”
The school added: “Well done to Ashley for his achievement. We’re committed to supporting learning and personal development and are delighted to hear about his success.
“Greenfield Community College is committed to supporting students to reach their full potential.
“The school promotes an inclusive curriculum encouraging students to work together to realise an outstanding learning experience.”
