Woodham Academy student, Alivia Hoy, was recognised for her perfect attendance record during her secondary education at a celebration evening at Durham County Cricket Club.
The award was presented by Karen Oxley of Metro Radio and Councillor John Lethbridge, chair of Durham County Council.
Alivia’s perfect attendance is reflected in her outstanding academic achievement.
This summer, Alivia passed all 11 GCSEs, achieving high grades across every subject.
Those who saw her paintings at Woodham Academy’s summer art exhibition will not be surprised to learn that she was awarded a top grade 9 in Art.
She also achieved grade 9s in RE and history as well as grade 8s in maths, physics and chemistry.
Alivia is now studying for A levels at QE in Darlington. Those who have taught her know that her work ethic, together with her natural ability and ambition, will bring her success in whatever she chooses to do in the future.
Head teacher Christine Forsyth said: “There is a clear link between attendance and academic achievement.
“We hope that this award will highlight the importance of good attendance to students and parents.”
