Newton Aycliffe slipped to fifth-bottom in the Ebac Northern League first division with their eighth defeat of the season at home to Whitley Bay at the weekend.
A single goal, scored by Paul Chow, was enough for Bay to take all three points back to North Tyneside.
It also represented two consecutive defeats within the space of three days after Aycliffe’s 3-0 drubbing at Newcastle Benfield last Wednesday.
Caretaker boss Allan Oliver was given some relief with a much-needed win at Billingham Synthonia last weekend, but the double defeat saw them slip to within just two points of the bottom three.
The Newtonians will be hoping to bounce back in a derby clash with neighbours Shildon at the Aux Audio Stadium on Saturday, followed by another home game against Penrith next Wednesday night (8th October).
