Seaham Red Star 3, Newton Aycliffe 1
By Bob Wood
Newton Aycliffe slipped down a place following a disappointing result at Seaham Red Star on Saturday.
Aycliffe now lie fourth in the table on 33 points having played 18 games.
Aycliffe took an early lead at Seaham but conceded three to come away from the coast empty-handed.
The visitors scored after just nine minutes. Liam Adamson picked up a pass from Ethan Wood and slid it through the tightest of gaps to find Liam Jarvie who slotted his shot through the keeper’s legs.
The lead lasted just five minutes. Seaham won a corner from the left which was headed back across goal and volleyed into the roof of the net.
Five minutes into the second half Seaham took the lead from the penalty spot after a forward was adjudged to have been brought down.
Aycliffe’s fortunes didn’t improve, and with 15 minutes remaining Seaham’s Dart crossed from the left which was met by a header from Chisholm beating Decklan Greenwood.
A disappointing result but Aycliffe have an early chance to make amends with a home Durham Challenge Cup tie against Consett on Tuesday (November 15, 7.30pm).
Consett were promoted from the Northern League last season and are now mid-table in the Northern Premier League East Division.
Aycliffe then return to League action on Saturday (November 19, 3pm) when Redcar Athletic will be the visitors to the SecuriCorp Stadium.
