As Christmas rapidly approaches, thoughts generally turn to winding down to enjoy the festive period.
But on Sunday, December 20, three eager members took the opportunity to take part in Wild Deer Events’ Derwent Reservoir 5 Mile Trail Race.
The race featured a staggered start, with runners released in small, similarly-paced groups, and the results were compiled based on individual times.
Despite taking a tumble at the one-mile point, Second Claim Member John Firby, was placed fifth on the day, completing the race in a time of 31:33.
Hot on his heels was Dez Fielden, who completed the multi-terrain course in 31:42, which was good enough for a sixth place finish, and saw Dez finish second in his Age Category (Vet 40-49).
Completing the Aycliffe triumvirate was Carley Cooper, who crossed the line with a time of 59:12.
The club will be taking a two-week break over the Christmas period, and activities will resume in the New Year (national and regional restrictions permitting).
