Slim pickings on offer for those looking for a race or event over the course of the last week as many of the established events on the race calendar were cancelled some time ago.
Two Members who did find an event to run in were Richard Holland and Simon Turner, who had a crack at ‘The Philosopher’s Run’, on Sunday, 18 October 2020.
This UKA Permitted event was organised by Saturn Running, who specialise in endurance based running events, and this event offered the opportunity to complete as many laps of a 3.28 miles looped course along the River Wear at Durham as possible.
With no maximum distance, but a cut-off time of seven hours, additional recognition was provided to those who achieved the Half Marathon, Mega Half Marathon, Marathon or 50K distance.
Richard and Simon ran together, both completing the Mega Half Marathon (16.4 miles) in a time of 2:27.15.
Further afield, Second Claim Member, Paul RANDS, ran in the Cheshire 10K, which also took place on Sunday, 18 October 2020.
The race started and finished near Arley Hall and took runners around the flat and rural roads of Antrobus, just south of Warrington. Running in the colours of his First Claim Club, Macclesfield Harriers, Paul completed the race in a Personal Best (PB) of 44:44.
