So after a busy few weeks it was a lot quieter this week for our runners.
There was still a midweek race however, with two full members and two second claim members taking part in the Summer Coast Road 5k.
This is a two-lap course along the sea front in Marske. First home for Aycliffe was John Surtees in 16.39, followed by Mark Wade in 17.53, Paul Dalton in 17.53 and Corey Horn in 20.18.
It was the usual high attendance of members at differing Parkruns over the weekend with Mark Bainbridge securing a PB at the Hardwick course in Sedgefield in a time of 21.58.
Finally, on Sunday, we had a few members taking part in the racing at Hamsterley Forest with members taking part in both the 10k and Half Marathon (pictured above).
Not only did they have the terrain and hills to contend with but the weather was very warm which in turn brought out swarms of flies.
In the 10k Rob Young was first home for the club in 48.58, followed by Mark Bainbridge in 50.49, Heather Morgan in 55.25, Bev Phillippo in 1.00.31, Ian Baronowski in 1.03.10, Lisa Dowell in 1.04.35 and Marie Rudd in 1.20.36.
In the Half Marathon, Sandra Collins was first home in 2.11.28. She was followed by Rob Nicholson in 2.20.28 and Kathryn Waterworth in 2.34.49.
For anyone interested in joining the club, you can simply turn up at one of our sessions all of which start from the Oakleaf Complex in Newton Aycliffe. Monday night is beginners run at 6.30pm, Tuesday is endurance/speed session from 7pm, and Thursday is a track session and this takes place at Shildon Track. Further details can be found on our website or facebook pages or alternatively you can message the club via facebook for more information.
