It has been another busy week for Aycliffe Running Club as we move into autumn and winter races.
On Saturday, September 30, one member took part in the Snape 10k, with Rob Young finishing seventh in a time of 41:28
On Sunday, one member took part in the Run Northumberland Matfen 10k, with Judith Porter finishing first in the female over 70 category in a time of 1:04:58.
At the same time, two members took part in the Jarrow 10k With Paul Dalton continuing his return from injury, finishing in a time of 43:59 and Jayne Rudd finishing in a time of 1:02:23.
Sunday also saw the return of the NYSD Cross Country League and the first event at Acklam in Middlesbrough. There was an excellent turn out from the club in the Junior, Female and Men’s races.
In the under 11 boys race Joe Dickinson (7:07.5) and Elijah McLuckie (8:43.3) represented the club.
In the Under 11 girls race, Trinity Donoghue (10:43.5) and Isla Noddings (11:36.2) both represented the club.
In the under 15 boys race, Luke Walker (10:46.5) was the sole representative for the club.
Moving into the under 17, under 20, senior and veteran ladies race, Tamara Kirk (30:12.2) was first back for the club.
Also taking part were Catherine McDonnell (33:41.7), Melanie Rowland (35:53.6), Sandrine Boinet-Hewitt (36:08.7), Tracey Pickering (37:35.5), Yvonne Blewitt (38:15.4) and Anne Kellett (39:00.6).
In the senior men’s race, Matt Muir (42.37.8) and Richard Campbell (42.39.1) were neck and neck at the finish.
Also representing the club were Gareth Hamblin (45:42.3), Anthony Dickinson (48.14.3), Martyn Knox (49.11), Martin Turnbull (49.25.6), Shaun Dodd (50:23.3), Daniel Tatham (50:45.8), Dave Blewitt (53:40.3), Shaun Dodds (54:00), Keith Hatton (57:08.4) and David Stothard (59:09.3).
In the men’s over 65 race, Trevor Needham (28:19), John Burnside (30:14.1), Alan Kellett (34:28.6) and Rob Nicholson (40:58.3) all represented the club.
On Saturday, 44 members started their weekend with a parkrun, taking in the Town Moor, Sedgefield, Riverside, Darlington South Park, Hackworth, Hartlepool, Penrith, Druridge Bay, Penrose, Futakotamagaw, Jubilee and Hamsterley Forest events.
At Darlington South Park, Floyd Jones completed the course for the first time in a time of 19:32.
New members Trevor Agnew (21:51) and Jimmy Agnew (22:38) both set new personal bests for any park run showing the progress they are both making since joining the club.
At Hackworth Richard Trowles finished second in a time of 18:00 whilst over at Hartlepool, Angela Sutheran continued her excellent form finishing as first lady in a time of 22:21 which was a new personal best for any parkrun.
At Penrith, Carley Cooper (28:11) and Em Flynn (34:59) both continued their parkrun tourism completing the course for the first time.
Sarah Gill, completed the event at Druridge Bay finishing in a time of 27:21.
At Penrose, David Stothard (26:37) and Ian Stothard (32:24) both completed the course for the first time. Richard Holland (21:01) went to the extreme by taking part in the Futakotamagawa parkrun, in Japan.
At Hamsterley, the club took part in another parkrun takeover, supporting the race with a number of volunteer roles as well as some members taking part in the race as runners or tail walkers.
Matt Muir (20:56) finished first with Keiran Hornsby finishing ninth whilst setting a new personal best of 26:54.
Bernadette Cooper and Viv Williams both completed the event as tail walkers ensuring everyone got around safely.
It was another very successful event and huge thanks to everyone that attended to support the event.
