It has been another busy week for Aycliffe Running Club which started with the seventh and final race in the Darlington Trail 5k series of races at Baydale Beck on Wednesday, September 13.
Fifteen members took part including Richard Holland (21:07) who finished second, Gareth Hamblin (21:44), Dave Blewitt (24:00), Daniel Tatham (24:50), Tamara Kirk (26:02), Sarah Gill (26:29), David Stothard (26:55), Kelly Dickinson (31:35), Tracey Pickering (33:17), Sue Podmore (33:47), Yvonne Blewitt (33:47), Samantha Harding (33:48), Rob Nicholson (35:00), Cliff Pickering (35:30) and Ian Stothard (35:34). There were three ladies (Sarah Gill, Tamara Kirk and Tracey Pickering) who finished in the top ten of the series of races along with Dave Blewitt in the men’s series.
On Saturday, Alan Wilks ran in the British Masters and NEMAA 10k track championships at Monkton Stadium. Despite the wet and windy conditions Alan completed the event in a time of 50:48 taking home gold medals in both races, an excellent achievement.
On Sunday, 16 members took part in the Sedgefield Serpentine race which was a 6.5 mile run partly on trails around Hardwick Park before heading out into the countryside running hills and through mud and water.
Representing the club were Martin Turnbull (46:44), Steven Dawson (51:32), Dave Blewitt (53:58), Daniel Tatham (54:38), Trevor Needham (55:42), Sarah Gill (58:45), Keith Hatton (59:58), Trish Kay first in her age category (1:02:43), David Stothard (1:04:23), Carley Cooper (1:04:31), Eve Doe (1:10:34), Kelly Dickinson (1:13:40), Tracey Pickering (1:14:57), Em Flynn (1:16:00), Ian Stothard (1:17:22) and Yvonne Blewitt (1:17:29).
On Saturday, September 9, 29 members started their weekend with a parkrun, taking in the Town Moor, Durham, Sedgefield, Burgess, Darlington South Park, Hackworth, Roma Pineto, Wynyard Woodland and Thorp Perrow events.
At Durham, Ian Stothard continued his excellent form, setting a new personal best of 33:03 for the course.
At Darlington South Park, John Surtees went one place better than the previous week finished first in a time of 17:21.
At Hackworth, Bernadette Cooper finished as first female in a time of 22:57. Austin Donoghue, completed his first parkrun at this event in a time of 28:56. At Roma Pineto, Linda McNamee (37:59) completed the course for the first time.
Carley Cooper (28:53) set a new personal best at Wynyard along with Richard Tonge (31:28) and Em Flynn (32:23) with Tracey Pickering (31:07) and Cliff Pickering (35:52) completing the course for the first time. Keith Hatton (27:33) completed the new Thorp Perrow parkrun for the first time.
On Saturday, 30 members started their weekend with a parkrun, taking in the Albert, Town Moor, Durham, Sedgefield, Darlington South Park, Hackworth, Fell Foot, Swaffham, , Hamsterley Forest Wynyard Woodland and Thorp Perrow events.
At Albert ark, Angela Sutheran (22:50) finished as second lady with Dave Stothard (25:56) setting a new personal best for the course.
At Town Moor Carley Cooper (28:38), Sandrine Hewitt (30:15) and Em Flynn (33:02) all completed the event for the first time.
At Durham Kathleen Tonge (30:44) and Richard Tonge (32:00) both set new personal bests for the course. Eve Doe (30:44) also set a new personal best for any parkrun at Sedgefield. Linda McNamee (33:51) also completed her 150th parkrun at this event.
At Hackworth, Bernadette Cooper (24:12), finished as second lady. At Fell Foot, Paul Dalton (26:48) and Jayne Rudd (31:30) both completed the course for the first time.
George Dixon completed the event at Swaffham for the first time, finishing third in what was his 25th parkrun. Mark Bainbridge (26:52), completed the event at Hamsterley for the first time. Peter Tennick (21:53), completed the event at Wynyard Woodland for the first time.
At Thorp Perrow, Viv Williams (1:07:40) completed the course as tail walker ensuring that everyone got around safely.
