It has been another busy week for Aycliffe Running Club as members continue to take part in a variety of different races.
The week started on Tuesday, July 4, and the Bridges of the Tyne five-mile race.
Representing the club was Richard Holland (32:28), Paul Dalton (34:40), Carley Gibson (43:33), Jayne Rudd (50:32) and Emma Flynn (52:40).
At the same time, three members took part in the Saltwell Fell Race, which was a 5.6 mile fell race near Stanhope.
At the time of writing the report, the results were unavailable, with an update to be provided later.
On Wednesday, July 5, two members took part in the South Shields Monthly Mile with David Stothard (7:11) and Ian Stothard (9:28) both taking part.
Ian set another personal best for the event and has now taken over 30 seconds off his previous best time, an amazing achievement.
On Sunday, July 9, one member took part in the latest Trail Outlaws race, which was the Bottoms Up Cup, a 5k race around Washington. Ian Stothard was the sole representative for the club finishing in a time of 36:14.
On the same day, one member made the long trip to the South Coast to take part in the aptly named Harbour Wallbanger beach race.
This was set in Viking Bay in Broadstairs where runners ran 7k along the beach having to dodge seaweed and any loose stones. Richard Trowles completed the event in a time of 32:26, finishing an impressive 14th out of 254 runners.
On Saturday, 32 members started their weekend with a parkrun, taking in the Sandwell Valley, Sedgefield, Darlington South Park, Hackworth, Hartlepool, Fountains Abbey, Tyne Green, Leazes, Hamsterley Forest Holyrood, and Wynyard Woodland events.
At Sandwell Valley, Steve Williams (28:47), completed the event for the first time. Over at Darlington South Park Samantha Harding completed the course for the first time, finishing in a time of 30:56.
A number of members turned out for the Hackworth parkrun, with Richard Campbell finishing second in a time of 20:29. Bernadette Cooper finished as first female, finishing in a time of 23:44.
At Hartlepool, Angela Sutheran, finished as first lady in a time of 23:22.
At Fountains Abbey Carley Cooper completed the course in a new personal best taking 50 seconds off her previous best time for the course.
Over at Tyne Green, David Stothard (25:09) completed the course for the first time along with Ian Stothard (33:55).
At Holyrood, Sarah Gill completed the course for the first time, finishing in a time of 26:58.
