It has been another busy week for Aycliffe Running Club with the week starting with the daily mile at South Shields on Wednesday, May 3.
There were three members taking part including David Stothard (7:17) in what was his quickest time in the series of races, Melanie Rowland (8:36) and Ian Stothard (10:03),who just missed out on breaking the 10 minute barrier.
On Sunday May 7, four members completed the Active Sunderland City 10k.
Taking part were Sue Podmore (55:51), David Stothard (56:16), Samantha Harding (57:18) and Ian Stothard (1:14:30). At the same time, Kevin Tatham completed the half marathon finishing in a time of 1:55:42.
On the same day, four members took part in the Muddy Roads Pizza 8k Trail run at Errington Woods in Marske.
Sarah Gills was first in the Female over 40 category in a time of 45:43. Trish Kay (52:28) was first in the Female over 60 category followed by Eve Doe (56:34) in second place. Laura Grainger also took part finishing in a time of 54:50.
On Saturday, May 6, 28 members started their week with a parkrun taking in the Sedgefield, Darlington South Park, Hackworth, Hartlepool, Alexandra and Wynyard events.
At the Hartlepool event, Angela Sutheran finished as fourth lady in a time of 22:56. Sarah Gill (23:11) took part in her 25th ever parkrun and second at Hartlepool setting a new personal best in the process. Floyd Jones took part at Alexandra in Moss Park, finishing in a time of 19:03.
Keith Hatton (27:20), competed at Wynyard for the first time which is a new parkrun that recently started. Keith is one of a select group of runners who have the “regionairre” status for completing all 33 different parkruns in the North East. Carley Gibson (27:58) also completed the event for the first time.
On Saturday, April 29, 20 members started their weekend with a parkrun taking in the Sedgefield, Riverside, Darlington South Park, Hackworth, Jesmond Dene and Wynyard events. At Hackworth, Richard Holland finished third in a time of 22:28.
There was also another one of the clubs’ parkrun tourism events at Jesmond Dene with David Stothard (27:11), Richard MacFarlane (27:55), Carley Gibson (28:55), Kathleen Tonge (34:13), Richard Tonge (34:14) and Ian Stothard (39:41) all taking part. This saw Carley Gibson complete her 100th ever parkrun and first at Jesmond Dene, an excellent achievement.
