It has been another busy week for Aycliffe Running Club.
The week started with the Neptune Relays on Wednesday 26 April which saw teams of four runners run approximately 1.7 miles each around Hardwick Park in Sedgefield.
Tracey Surtees was fastest lady on the night finishing her leg in a time of 9:55. It was an excellent event with the club entering nine teams across the different categories.
Taking part in the Senior Men’s race were Richard Campbell (9:42) Ste Dunn (10:33), Mat Muir 10:11 and John Surtees (8:51), total time 39:17. Stuart Joyce (11:03), Richard Holland (10:53), Richard Trowles (10:24) and Gary O’Connor (10:49), total time 43:09. Robert Young 10:36 Dave Blewitt 11:29 Daniel Tatham 11:51 Trevor Needham 11:43, total time 45:39. John Burnside (13:10) Alan Wilks (13:09), Richard Campbell (10:00) and Stuart Joyce (11:08), total time 47:27.
Taking part in the Women’s race were, Sarah Jane Gill (12:46), Tamara Kirk (12:42) Tracey Surtees (9:55) and Samantha Harding (14:58), total time 50:21. Eve Doe (16:18), Melanie Jane (15:16), Nichola Ingman (15:32) and Judith Porter (16:52), total time 1:03:58.
In the Mixed Teams category teams included Martin Turnbull (10:36), Luke Walker (10:25), Iwo Sacha (11:37) and Trevor Dixon (9:45) coming second in the category in a time of 42:23. Richard Tonge (16:11), Kathleen Tonge (14:37), Anne Kellett (16:08) Alan Kellett (14:48), total time 1:01:44. Susan Clark (19:24), Yvonne Blewitt (15:35), Christina Lambert (19:53) and David Stothard (12:21), total time 1:07:13.
One Member took part in the Cockfield Chase on Thursday 27 April which is a beginner’s Fell race. Shaun Dodd (21:01) represented the club. On the same night, one member took part in the Darlington monthly mile with Melanie Rowland finishing in a time of 8:36.
On Sunday 30 May, 11 Members took part in the Hartlepool Marina 5 Mile Run. John Surtees set a new Personal Best for the distance finishing fourth in a time of 27:21. Tracey Surtees (31:20) was second female and first in the Over 35 category. Also taking part were Richard Campbell (29:24), Matt Muir (32:41), Stuart Joyce (33:56), Stephen Dunn (34:01), Trevor Needham (35:38 giving him second in the men’s over 65 category, Angela Sutheran (38:51), John Burnside (39:52), Trish Kay (42:24) and Eve Doe (49:24).
On the same day, three members took part in the Melmerby 10k road race, with Floyd Jones (39:53) second in the men’s over 60 category. Also taking part were Robert Young (42:47) and Judith Porter (1:02:19).
At the same time, two members took part in the Trail Outlaws Washington 10k with Richard Tonge (1:23:42) and Kathleen Tonge (1:23:53) representing the club.
On the same day, one member took part in the Gateshead Half Marathon with Daniel Tatham finishing in a time of 1:47:58. At the same, four members took part in the Gateshead 10k with Carley Gibson (54:41), David Stothard (55:42), Samantha Harding (1:02:22) and Ian Stothard (1:15:22) all representing the club.
