There has been more positive news for club members, continuing the good start to 2023.
On Saturday, February 4, one member took part in the North East Masters Athletics Association Cross Country Championships at Croft Circuit.
Alan Wilks completed the course in a time of 36:42 finishing first in the Men’s Over 70 category and winning the gold medal.
On Saturday, February 11, it was the sixth fixture in the Start Fitness North East Harrier Cross Country League with the race taking place at Thornley Hall Farm in Peterlee.
There were four members taking part in the Senior Men’s race with Dez Fielden (41:53), Richard Holland (45:12), Richard Trowles (50:04) and Gareth Hamblin (52:11) representing the club.
On Sunday, February 12, one member took part in the Run Newcastle Valentines 10k. David Stothard showed his love for the race, finishing in a time of 57:01.
On Saturday,19 members started their weekend with a parkrun taking in the Durham, Windy Nook, Sedgefield, Darlington South Park, Hackworth, Hartlepool and Wetherby events.
At Windy Nook, David Stothard completed the course for the first time finishing in a time of 27:52. Ian Stothard also completed the course for the first time in a time of 42:19. Over at Sedgefield, John Surtees finished second in a time of 17:38.
At the Hackworth event, Eve Doe completed her 27th run on the course, achieving a new Personal Best of 31:54. Eve only realised this after the event and did not get to ring the bell for setting a new personal best. It is still a fantastic achievement.
Tracey Pickering (33:17) and Cliff Pickering (33:45) both continued with their parkrun tourism taking in the Wetherby parkrun for the first time.
