Two members took part in Hamsterley Remembrance Day 5 mile event last week.
David Stothard finished in a time of 47:50 and Ian Stothard finished in a time of 1:09:05.
On the same day, three runners took part in the Heaton Harriers Town Moor Memorial 10k. That included Alan Wilks who finished in a new Personal Best of 49:18, finishing first in his age category and first in the North East Masters Athletics Association championship for the over 70 category. Trish Kay 51:55 and Eve Doe 1:02:11 also took part.
This was also the same day as the next leg of the NYSD Cross Country League with the race taking place at Foxrush in Redcar. The club was well represented in the Senior Women’s and Veteran Woman’s Race. Those taking part were Sarah-Jayne Gill 31:17, Jayne Rudd 33:17, Melanie Rowland 35:39 and Kelly Dickinson 37:47.
In the Senior Men’s and Veteran Men’s race those taking part were Richard Campbell 36:08, Matt Muir 38:59, Shaun Dodd 41:45, Richard Holland 42:19, Matt Heron 42:34, Martin Turnbull 45:12 and Richie Johnson 48:04
In the Over 65 Veteran Men’s race, there were two members taking part with Trevor Needham finishing first in a time of 29:16, followed by John Burnside who was second in a time of 31:33. In the Over 70 Men’s race, Kevin Greenall finished first in a time of 35:17.
Saturday also saw 16 Members start their weekend with a parkrun taking in the Town Moor, Sedgefield, Redcar, Darlington South Park, Hackworth and Cotsford Fields events.
Carley Gibson finished as first female in the event at Cotsford Fields in a time of 29:04. At Darlington South Park, Gareth Kyle finished in first place in a time of 17:16, which was also a new Personal Best for Gareth. Ian Stothard completed the Town Moor Event for the first time in a time of 39:39 to warm up for the 10k race, the following day.
On the previous Saturday, there were 27 Members who started their week with a parkrun, with Garth Kyle setting a personal best at Albert Park finishing in a time of 17:27. Clare Stradling took part in the event at Windy Nook, finishing as second female in a time of 25: 57. At the same time Tracey Pickering 33:46 and Cliff Pickering took part in the Druridge Bay event for the first time. Jayne Rudd also competed at Herrington Country Park for the first time, finishing in a time of 26:46
