It has been a busy couple of weeks for our members, with a variety of races taking place.
On October 19, nine members took part in the Darlington Trail series 5k Headtorch run at West Park.
Those taking part for the club were Daniel Tatham 25:49, Clare Stradling 25:50, Sarah Gill 26:35, David Stothard 26:45, Melanie Rowland 30:19, Nicola Ingman 33:27, Tracey Pickering 35:36, Cliff Pickering 36:46 and Ian Stothard 48:04.
On Sunday, October 23, five members took part in the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k race. That included Gareth Kyle 35:44, Stuart Joyce 43:24, Dave Blewitt 45:33, Trish Kay 52:25 and Yvonne Blewitt 58:51. This was also a new Personal best for Yvonne for this distance.
At the same time, one member took part in the Run Northumberland Castles Half Marathon with Rob Young completing the course in a time of 1:34:05.
On Saturday, October 29, it was the third race in the Start Fitness North Eastern Harrier Cross Country League.
This was a run around the Lambton Castle Estate in what could be described as heavy conditions.
Representing the Men’s senior team were Trevor Dixon 44:39, Dez Fielden 44:52, Richard Campbell 47:01, Shaun Dodd 53:37 and Peter Tennick 58:16. In the Senior Woman’s race, Melanie Rowland took part finishing in a time of 44:13. Alan Wilks also completed this course in a time of 38:36.
On Sunday, October 30, one member took part in the Run for All Lincoln 10k. Paul Dalton completed the event in a fantastic time of 35:48 which is the first time he had managed to get below 36 minutes for a 10k since 2019.
Saturday also saw 19 members start their weekend with a parkrun taking in the York, Durham, Sedgefield, Redcar, Darlington South Park, Leazes, Jubilee and Hamsterley events.
John Firby finished in first place in the Sedgefield Parkrun in a time of 18:27. At Darlington South Park, Yvonne Blewitt continued her excellent form with a new parkrun personal best of 28:13.
On Saturday, October 22, there were 24 members that took part in a parkrun.
That included Clare Stradling who finished second overall and first female in a time of 23:01 at the Millom parkrun event.
This was also a new parkrun personal best for Clare. At the same time Susan Rees completed her 50th ever parkrun at Darlington South Park in a time of 25:32.
