Saturday morning saw members turn out at parkrun events at Darlington South Park, Hackworth, Hartlepool, Jubilee, Sedgefield, Town Moor and York.
John Firby continued his recent good form by posting a new Personal Best (PB) for Sedgefield parkrun, completing the course in 17:47, while at Darlington South Park parkrun, Gareth Kyle (17:39) and Robert Young (19:50) were both registering their fastest time on that course.
Elsewhere on Saturday morning, Sandra Rudd was in the Lake District to participate in the Grasmere 10K Trail Race, hosted by Wild Deer Events. Sandra completed the race in 1:19:55, and in doing so finished first in her Age Category (F60-69).
On Saturday afternoon several Members headed to Thornley Hall Farm near Peterlee for the North-East Counties Athletics Association (NECAA) XC Relays, where each leg of the relay was approximately two miles.
In the Women’s Senior Race, the club was represented by Eve Doe (22:03), Jayne Rudd (20:11) and Samantha Harding (20:25), who completed the race in a combined time of 1:02:39.
In the Men’s Senior Race, our ‘A’ Team finished fourth, narrowly missing out on the podium positions, pipped by the North-East big guns of Sunderland Harriers, Tyne Bridge Harriers and Gateshead Harriers.
Richard Campbell (12:22), Martin Turnbull (12:52), Paul Dalton (12:47) and John Firby (11:52) completed the race in a cumulative time of 49:53.
Our ‘B’ Team in the Men’s Senior Race comprised Stuart Joyce (14:15), Shaun Dodds (16:49), Kieran Wright (16:42) and Matt Muir (13:39), and they finished the race with an aggregate time of 1:01:25.
In the Men’s Masters Race, Shaun Dodd (16:09), Trevor Needham (15:28) and David Stothard (17:56), gave a creditable showing, finishing in a combined time of 49:33.
In Northumberland on Sunday morning, Sandrine Hewitt took on the Yeavering to Wooler Trail Race. The race, hosted by Cheviot Trail Events, covered seven miles and followed the path of the St. Cuthbert’s Way. Sandrine completed the race in 1:30:53.
Elsewhere in Northumberland on Sunday, the Stothard brothers were in action at the Run Northumberland Super-Fast Race event at Stamfordham. Taking on the 5K event, Ian Stothard completed his run 30:38, which represented a new PB for Ian for the distance. David Stothard took on the 10K race, coming home in 57:55.
Finally, in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Richard Tonge was taking on the Aldi Ashby 20, and Richard completed the 20 Mile race in 3:54:41.
