An Aycliffe man was helping police with their enquiries after local officers discovered a small amount of drugs during a raid on Wednesday.
After gathering local intelligence and obtaining a search warrant, the Aycliffe Neighbourhood Policing Team raided a house in the Ballarat on the Agnew estate on Wednesday morning – Aycliffe Today gained exclusive access to the operation.
Cops recovered a small amount of tablets, believed to be controlled substances, and a man questioned by police after being arrested.
Newton Aycliffe NPT Sergeant Mark Edwards told Aycliffe Today: “This operation was in response to information received by a number of local residents.
“Obviously these things take time, we had to gather sufficient evidence to obtain a warrant under the miss-use of drugs act before carrying out the search.
“One male was arrested following the search and is now helping us with our enquiries while the evidence is examined.”
Officers have also posted leaflets through nearby letterboxes, advising residents of this morning’s operation.
“We’re dedicated to making our neighbourhood safer,” added Sergeant Edwards.
“If you have any issues affecting your quality of life please feel free to discuss it with us.”
