Saturday 22nd April – NYSD Division 2
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Wolviston 1st XI – weather was dry and sunny. Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Wolviston 1st XI 200 for 7 after 50 overs
Sean Morgan 3 for 25, Michael Howe 1 for 15 and Jack Slatcher 1 for 26
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 114 all out after 45.4 overs
Michael Howe 24, Luke Telford 22 and Adam Gittins 17
The first team played their opening game of the season and were well beaten at home to Wolviston by 86 runs. Sean Morgan was picked as man of the match for a good a good bowling performance during which he took 3 wickets for 25 runs from his 7 overs.

Saturday 22nd April – NYSD Division 4
Blackhall 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – weather was dry and sunny. Blackhall won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 102 all out after 33.1 overs
Dylan Tribley 21, Stephen Sweeney 19 and Joe Haines 17
Blackhall 2nd XI 103 for 6 after 29.1 overs
George Slatcher 3 for 27, Ryan Patrick 2 for 13 and Dylan Tribley 1 for 34
The second team, containing nine juniors, including three who were making their debuts at senior level, also played their opening game of the season and put in a excellent performance despite losing by four wickets. Our under 13’s captain Harry Wright, who was a late call up for the team, was nominated as man of the match for an eye catching innings of 11 runs and he also bowled 3 overs and conceded just 6 runs, which in the circumstances, was an excellent all round effort by the talented debutant.
