Newton Aycliffe FC are already beginning their preparations for the 2012-13 season by appointing a new commission-based corporate fundraising role to boost club funds.
The Northern League club are currently seventh in the Northern League first division in their inaugural top-flight campaign.
It looks like they’ll achieve their ambition of a top-10 finish in what is only their third season in the Northern League, after winning the second division title last year.
But they have struggled to compete with neighbouring clubs, with running costs providing a big financial burden.
Now they’re looking to boost their revenue streams by appointing a new fundraiser, who will earn commission on corporate advertising and sponsorship sales.
Chairman Gary Farley (pictured) said: “We’ve been lucky in that we’ve had volunteers running the club up to now, so we haven’t had to pay a penny to the guys who do all the hard work behind the scenes.
“But, as a committee, we recognise that if we want to be more competitive so we can maintain anything like a top-six position, we need someone to go out there and sell the club.
“All our volunteers work for a living and are stretched enough as it is, so this is a real opportunity for someone, ideally from a sales or fundraising background, to help us and earn some money at the same time.”
Those interested are asked to contact Aycliffe’s sponsorship and advertising manager Barry Waters on 07864 718243, or email [email protected]. Full remuneration details will be discussed during interviews.
