It was another busy weekend of Aycliffe Juniors footballing action took place.
Younger teams are starting to establish themselves with one side playing their first game. The older sides are looking to progress their league positions.
The Under 6 development team really enjoyed their first ever friendly match at Shildon. A great effort from all the lads saw them win an exciting game 7-6.
The Under 7’s played at home against Billingham United Hornets and won 3-1. They went 1-0 down but equalised with David scoring from a free kick. In the second half Alex and Harry scored to seal the win.
The Under 8’s played away at Leven AFC and their hosts proved to be as good a side as their recent results have suggested. Two goals from Thomas could not prevent defeat. Josh was named as man of the match for his great performance.
The Under 9’s were at Sunnydale facing Billingham Juniors, a very good performance and two goals from Marley secured a 2-1 win in a game where Kai was the man of the match.
The Under 10’s ‘Black’ faced local rivals Ferryhill Town, the first half ended 0-0 as the two sides cancelled each other out. Jayden scored to put Aycliffe ahead but Ferryhill equalised from the penalty spot and the game ended 1-1. Jack had a great game in goal and was chosen as the man of the match.
The Under 10’s ‘White’ played against Darlington FC. They secured a 2-0 win with both goals coming from Niall. The boys played some lovely passing football creating lots of chances as was needed to beat strong opposition. Connor was the games man of the match.
The Under 12’s Russell Foster League team played away at Swalwell Swifts. Aycliffe played well in parts of the match but slipped to a 7-0 defeat. Bo was named as man of the match for a great game at right back.
The Under 12’s TJFA League team traveled to play Stockton Town and the game was drawn 1-1. A great free kick from Charlie was finished by Will to give Aycliffe the lead but Stockton equalised with ten minutes remaining. Both keepers were needed to make great saves in a good competitive game.
The Under 13’s were at home playing in a local derby against Sedgefield, they went 1-0 down but Brown scored a great equaliser before half time. Two goals from Clark and another from Hardy opened up a 4-1 lead. Sedgefield scored two late goals but Aycliffe held on to win 4-3. Charlie Cayless was named man of the match by the opposition coaches.
The Under 16’s played table topping Redcar Town Royal and they put in a great performance to open up a 3-0 lead after twenty minutes. Stoker, Burrows and Dixon were the scorers. In the second half Redcar got one goal back before Halliday completed the scoring in a fine 4-1 win.
