Saturday 6th May – NYSD Division 2
Darlington 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 1st XI – weather was dry and cool. Darlington won the toss and chose to bat first.
Darlington 2nd XI 225 for 4 declared after 47 overs
Luke Telford 3 for 39
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 141 all out after 40 overs
Jack Slatcher 60, Graham Telford 37 and Michael Howe 20
The first team had a disappointing defeat away at Darlington 2nd XI by 84 runs. Jack Slatcher (sponsored by Mr & Mrs Greaves) was given the man of the match award for a superb innings of 60, which included 11 boundaries.
Saturday 6th May – NYSD Division 4
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Sedgefield 2nd XI – weather was dry and sunny. Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bat first.
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 127 all out after 35.3 overs
Joe Haines 40, Dan Bowmer 35 and Arran Taylor 12
Sedgefield 2nd XI 128 for 4 after 23.4 overs
Joe Haines 2 for 21, James Brown 1 for 0 and Elliott Holt 1 for 12
The second team had an improved performance but unfortunately were still beaten by Sedgefield by 6 wickets. 17 year old Dan Bowmer earned the man of the match award for scoring a season’s best 35 and his innings included seven well struck boundaries.
