Newton Aycliffe’s Northern League club are looking to bounce back from three straight defeats when they entertain Bedlington Terriers at home on Saturday.
The Newtonians suffered back-to-back set-backs against Newcastle Benfield, Ashington and Washington in the last week as a fixture bottleneck takes its toll.
But Peter Dixon’s side – who play second division side Whickham in the Durham Challenge Cup final on Good Friday – are still in a position to complete their best-ever campaign this season.
Aycliffe are currently fifth in the first division, with 15 more league games to cram in between now and April 5.
They also reached the furthest they’ve ever gone in both the FA Cup and FA Vase this season.
And the Blues could climb up a place in the table when second-bottom Bedlington visit Moore Lane Park.
Kick-off on Saturday is 3pm.
