Newton Aycliffe FC are delighted to announce that their brand new supporters bar will be open for the first time this Saturday, for the visit of Crook Town.
Working in partnership with Newton Aycliffe Sports Club, NAFC will now be able to serve cold alcoholic drinks to supporters of both sides in the new portacabin, situated behind the goal at the Town End of the ground.
And the Club will hope to see as many supporters as possible utilise the facility. As one of the very few Northern League Clubs, never mind first division clubs, without a bar on the ground, Aycliffe have often felt this would further enhance the supporter experience they are able to offer.
“We feel Moore Lane Park is one of the nicest places to enjoy football in the Northern League,” said the club’s general manager Dan Lewis.
“But probably the only thing lacking has been a bar on the ground, which will save the supporters having to miss part of the game to walk to the Sports Club for their half time refreshment.”
The bar is going to be staffed by volunteers from the committee, but the Club are seeking any interested parties to make contact if they have any time to spare, and would be interested in helping to run what is hoped to be a very popular facility.
The game this Saturday also features a first home game for Woodham Sports Academy Director Liam Clough, and Lewis is urging the school pupils to come and watch their mentor in action.
“I’m sure Liam will have told a few of the students how much ability he has from time to time,” said Dan.
“Saturday gives the perfect opportunity for them to come and see if he ‘walks the walk’ or just ‘talks the talk’.”
The game at Moore Lane Park kicks off at 3pm and admission is £6 for adults, £4 concessions with u 12s going FREE.
Aycliffe were once again frustrated by the weather on Wednesday night, as their scheduled game away at Crook was postponed, for the second time this season! No new date for the fixture has yet been set.
