Guisborough Town 3, Newton Aycliffe 3
By Dave Strickland
Newton Aycliffe were denied an FA Cup win away to Guisborough, when the home side scored an equaliser with virtually the last kick of the game.
Guisborough took the lead in the 12th minute when a cross from the left was headed in by their centre forward Hume.
Aycliffe had to make an early substitution when Matty Pennal came on for Thomas McAloon in the 27th minute.
Guisborough went further ahead on 41 minutes, when a ball through the middle of the defence put Hume in and he finished past James Winter.
Aycliffe were forced to make another substitution three minutes before half-time, when Ellis Husband replaced Liam Browne.
Right on half-time, Guisborough had a chance to go 3-0 up, but Winter made a great save from Roberts.
Aycliffe changed formation at half-time, and they went on to dominate the second half.
On 50 minutes, centre forward Ian Ward caused chaos in the home defence, following a cross from Ross Hutchinson. The ball ran to Matty Pennal who slotted it in for 1-2.
Seven minutes later, Thibault Charmey hit a low free-kick from the edge of the box. Home keeper Nixon could only parry the shot and Pennal knocked it for his second and 2-2.
Aycliffe could have gone ahead on the hour, but Nixon made a great save from Stuart Thompson.
From the resulting corner, man-of-the-match Pennal headed the ball into the six-yard box, for James Rowe to knock in for 2-3 to Aycliffe.
They went on to miss a couple of half-chances before they conceded in the 94th minute. A free-kick was crossed in and the ball fell to Guisborough keeper Nixon to slam in an equaliser.
The replay is due to be played at Moore Lane Park on Tuesday night (August 14, 7.45pm).
Aycliffe will then play Seaham Red Star on Saturday (August 19, 3pm).
