The weather once again forced an early finish to an interesting game with Barnard Castle reaching 176 for 9 when the umpires duly abandoned the game because of rain.
The bright spot of the day for Aycliffe was George Slatcher (sponsored by Dean and Tina Greaves, pictured above), who finished with his career best bowling figures of 5 for 58 from 11.2 overs.
Aycliffe picked up a useful 10 points from their drawn game, but still drop down a place to 10th in the NYSD 2nd division table with 103 points from ten games played.
The club’s second team were due to host promotion chasing Sedgefield 2nd XI in the NYSD Division Four, but this game was cancelled as the Aycliffe ground was waterlogged and unfit for any cricket.
