Newton Aycliffe 0, Dunston 1
By Dave Strickland
Newton Aycliffe slipped two places in the Northern League first division after a narrow defeat ast home to Dunston on Saturday.
Aycliffe fielded a defensive formation and failed to trouble Dunston keeper Grant for the whole of the 90 minutes.
It was a rearguard action throughout and the score was kept down by young keeper Jack McLaren, who was man-of-the-match after saving two penalties and making other good saves.
He saved the first penalty in the 19th minute, from Dunston centre-forward Kirkpatrick.
McLaren made a super save on 76 minutes, but he was beaten when Dunston did score from an Anderson penalty on 81 minutes.
James Oliver was sent off for a second caution for the foul. Anderson had another penalty four minutes later and this time McLaren saved it.
Aycliffe, now 18th in the table, entertain Stockton Town at Moore Lane Park on Tuesday night.
