Saturday 14th September – NYSD Division 2
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Middlesbrough 2nd XI – weather was mild with sunny spells. Newton Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Middlesbrough 2nd XI 204 all out after 41 overs
Luke Telford 4 for 43, Tom Dearden 3 for 51 and James Layfield-Carroll 2 for 41

The first team suffered a 21 runs defeat in a high scoring match in their final game of the season at home to Middlesbrough 2nd XI in the NYSD 2nd division.
Luke Telford had an excellent all round game for Aycliffe, firstly taking 4 for 43 from his 11 over spell, when the visitors batted. Then when Aycliffe replied, Telford scored an aggressive 44 off 48 balls, including ten boundaries.
Credit must also go to Adam Gittins (sponsored by BHP Law, pictured above) after his marathon innings of 137 balls in a gallant effort to try to salvage something from the game for his team. He remained the not out batsman when the innings was ended with an superb unbeaten 59 and his marathon effort contained eight boundaries and a six.
After 22 games, the first team finished their season with 194 points and finished bottom of the final NYSD 2nd division table and the team are relegated to the third division.

Darlington RA 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – weather was mild with sunny spells. Newton Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bat first.

Darlington RA 2nd XI 125 for 4 after 25.5 overs
Jai Sander 2 for 20, Ramzan Hussain 1 for 21 and Matty Greaves 1 for 28
The club’s second team lost by six wickets away at promotion candidates Darlington RA 2nd XI in their final game of the season in the NYSD 4th division.
Adam Shaw top scored in the Aycliffe innings with 24 off 38 balls and he reached the boundary on one occasion.
When the home side replied, Jai Sander proved to be the most successful bowler, finishing his seven over spell with the creditable figures of 2 for 20.
After 24 games, the second team finished their season with 201 points and currently sit in 9th place in the fourth division table with just one final week of games to be played by the other teams next weekend.
