Saturday 27th July – NYSD Division 2
Richmond 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 1st XI – weather was mild with sunny periods. Newton Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Richmond 2nd XI 139 all out after 37.2 overs
Matty Greaves 4 for 18, Luke Telford 3 for 19 and Jai Sander 2 for 33
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 47 all out after 19.2 overs
Tom Dearden 11 and Leo Stout 10 not out
The first team were well beaten by 92 runs away at top of the table Richmond 2nd XI.
Matty Greaves (sponsored by Athena Sports Academy and Britannia Fire) had a great return to first team duties, finishing with his seasonal best bowling figures of 4 for 18 from 5.2 overs.
After 14 games, the first team have 114 points and are now 12 points adrift from safety and sit in the relegation places in 11th position in the NYSD 2nd division table.

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Yarm 1st XI – weather was mild with frequent heavy showers. Newton Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bat first.
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 58 all out after 23.2 overs

Yarm 1st XI 60 for 1 after 6.4 overs

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI fielded a team containing seven juniors, including two 13-year-olds and two 14-year-olds, so it was no surprise that they lost by nine wickets at home to league leaders Yarm 1sts in a one sided game that was frequently disrupted by heavy showers.
Captain Dan Weldon (pictured above) was the only batsman to reach double figures when he top scored with 18 from 24 balls, including two boundaries and a six.
After 16 games, the second team have 150 points and remain in 7th place in the fourth division table.
