Saturday 29th June – NYSD Division 2
Middlesbrough 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 1st XI – weather was cool and cloudy Middlesbrough won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 190 for 9 after 50 overs
Terence Smit 71 not out, Joe Teasdale 31 and Tom Dearden 19
Middlesbrough 2nd XI 192 for 8 after 45.4 overs
Ben Howard 3 for 37, Tom Dearden 2 for 37 and Leo Mercy 1 for 28
The first team battled hard but were defeated in yet another close game, this time going down by just two wickets away at Middlesbrough 2nd XI.
Terence Smit (Sponsored by Canny Comps) batted superbly for Aycliffe hitting his best score for the club with an unbeaten 71 off 70 balls and his fighting innings contained ten boundaries.
After ten games, the first team have 77 points and remain firmly entrenched in the relegation places at the bottom of the second division table and 18 points adrift off safety.
Saturday 29th June – NYSD Division 4
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Darlington RA 2nd XI – weather was cool and cloudy. Newton Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Darlington RA 2nd XI 198 for 5 declared after 37 overs
Tom Norman 2 for 27 and Dan Weldon 2 for 47
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 52 all out after 25.2 overs
Adam Shaw 11 and Jai Sander 10
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI lost heavily at home to a strong Darlington RA 2nd XI by 146 runs. Dan Weldon bowled well for Aycliffe and his ten over spell yielded figures of 2 for 47. Tom Norman also bowled well taking 2 for 27 from his three overs. In reply, only Jai Sander (sponsored by Armstrong Building Services) and Adam Shaw reached double figures with the bat.
After eleven games, the second team have 84 points and remain in 11th place in the fourth division table.
